Who is a Surgeon?

A surgeon in simple terms is a doctor who has specialized in a particular field. A surgeon is allowed to perform surgeries on his patients and is commonly known as a physician. Some physicians are general practitioners and are also known to be specialists in medicine; family or emergency and are capable of performing minor surgeries on their patients. For specific ones, there are highly trained and specialized surgeons for it who perform those surgeries on the patients.

There are various types of specialties present for doctors to specialize in and become surgeons. Some of them have been mentioned below to provide a clear idea of what they are required to do in their specialized field of work. 

Types of Surgeons:

Podiatric Surgeon

This is the type of surgeons concerned with the feet and the ankles. Whenever a person is facing any problem in his feet or ankles the best surgeon to go is the podiatric surgeon. They also deal with the patients that are suffering from bunions, injuries in the areas of their feet, and ankles.

Bariatric Surgeon

These are the kinds of surgeons that are involved in mainly fighting obesity. To fight obesity they are allowed to perform different types of procedures whose aim is to limit the amount of food being ingested by the stomach. These procedures include gastric bypass, sleeve gastrostomy, and even adjustable gastric bands.

Ophthalmic Surgeon

The eyes are a sensitive area like any other and so the surgeon that deals with the eyes specifically is separate as well. They are highly trained professionals who can perform surgeries on the eyes and perform procedures that can help in the repairing of retinas, corneas, and even perform laser surgery as required by the patient.

Urologist

Another type of surgeon is a urologist.  A urologist is concerned with the adrenal glands of the body. This involves both males and females. They address issues like kidney stones, cancers that are primarily in the area of kidneys, bladder, and glands.

Otolaryngology surgeon

ENT. Eyes, nose, and throat are the focus areas for an otolaryngology surgeon. They are sometimes referred to as eyes, nose, and throat doctors as well. When at times surgeries are required to be performed in these three regions, this surgeon is asked to perform the surgeries. The surgery can be on the larynx, sinuses, mouth, neck, and even face.
